Dr. Ambedkar Chair in Interdisciplinary Studies and Thoughts of Dr. Ambedkar is established at SNDT Women’s University, Mumbai on 2nd August, 2016. The programme was held at Patkar Hall at 11.00 a.m.

The Inauguration of the Chair was held by Honorable Minister Shri. Rajkumar Badole, Ministry of Social Justice and Special Assistant Department, Government of Maharashtra.

On the occasion of inauguration programme the invited speaker was Prof. Ramesh Pandav. Prof. Ramesh Pandav speak on the subject of Dr. Ambedkar and National Integration .

The Introductory speech was given by Prof. Madhura Kesarkar, HOD, Department of Education, Mumbai the function was chair by Hon’ble Madam Vice-chancellor Prof. Shashikala Wanjari, SNDT Women’s University, Mumbai.

Hon’ble Minister Shri. Rajkumar Badole also highlighted the Contribution of Dr. Ambedkar Toward National Building. He appreciated SNDT Women’s University for establishment of Dr. Ambedkar Chair.

Hon’ble Madam Vice Chancellor speaks extensively on Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar’s Contribution on Nation Building as an Architect of Indian Constitution.

Dr. Rekha Chavan co-ordinated the program and vote of thanks given by Dr. Pradnya Wakpainjan.

This progremme was greatly successful and was attended by the Teaching, Non-Teaching and students of the University.

Appointment of Professor for Dr. Ambedkar Chair

Dr. Kisan S. Ingole has been appointed as Professor of Dr. Ambedkar Chair by the Selection Committee which was held on 22nd November 2016 at SNDT Women’s University, Mumbai – 400 020.

The Constitution was submitted by the Constitution Assembly to the President of India on 26th November 1949. This day is celebrated in India as a “Constitution Day”.

Behalf of Dr. Ambedkar Chair the Savidhan Day (Constitution Day) on November 26, 2016 at Committee Room, SNDT Women’s University, Mumbai – 20 was celebrated.

The function was chaired by Hon,ble Madam Vice Chancellor Prof. Shashikala Wanjari, SNDT Women’s University, Mumbai. On the occasion the Preamble of the Constitution was read by Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor line to line and followed by audience.

The Introduction was given by Dr. Madhura Kesarkar (Head, Department of Education).

The main speaker on the occasion was Prof. K. S. Ingole, Professor, Dr. Ambedkar Chair, Mumbai, who speaks on the Importance of Constitution, Fundamental Rights and Duties of Citizens and Importance of Directive Principals for Economic and Social Balances.

Madam Vice Chancellor speaks overall aspects of Constitution and its relevance in the present context. She also speaks on

Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar’s Contribution for the Nation Building, and she reminded the audience about the Importance of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Legacy in the Present Context. She has also suggested to Academic Fraternity and Students to Understand the Rights and Duties to Develop our University and Nation.

Dr. K. V. Deore (Associate Professor) has given the introduction of main speaker Dr. K. S. Ingole and
Mr. Sanjay Shedmake (Assistant Professor)
 has proposed the vote of thanks for the program. The majority of Teaching and Non-Teaching Staff was present in the program. In short the Savidhan Day programme was great successful.

On 06th December 2016, SNDT Women’s University has pay reverence to Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar on his 61 Death Anniversary (Mahaparinirvan Din) at Committee Room of the University at 11.00 a.m.

On the occasion, various speakers have shared their views on Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar’s to the Contribution. Few of them are as below :-

The program was co-ordinated by Dr. Chaitra Redkar, Assistant Professor and Head of the Department Political Science, Mumbai.

Prof. Ingole, Professor, Dr. Ambedkar Chair, SNDT Women’s Univesity, Mumbai speaks on various issues related to Dr. Ambedkar’s role for the Development of Modern India. He also elaborated Dr. Ambekar’s contribution to Fiscal Policy, Central – State Financial Relations, Taxation and Public Expenditure Policy and also Monitory Policy which lead to the formation of Reserve Bank of India. He also said that Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar fundamentally contribution for the preparation of water and navigation policy, electricity generation policy and labor laws and welfare polices as Labour Minister during the period of 1942 to 1946. He also talks on Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar’s view on women empowerment.

Madam Vice-chancellor speaks on Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar’s Contribution for the Overall Development of Nation and His Commitment to the Cause. Madam also says that, how Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar visualized the Women Welfare Policies in India.

Lastly Dr. Chaitra Redkar proposed the vote of thanks.

This programme was greatly successful and was attended by the Teaching, Non-Teaching and students of the University.

Savitribai Phule Jayanti (Chief Guest Prof. Ramesh Patange, well know Writer and Social Activists)

The function was chair by Hon’ble Madam Vice-chancellor Prof. Shashikala Wanjari, SNDT Women’s University, Mumbai.

Prof. Kisan S. Ingole has given the information of various programmes conducted by the chair and future programmes will be conducted by the chair. On this occasion he also said that Savitribai Phule work’s was a tremendestes work at that time all the established class people and orthodocax people they were creating lot of disturbs in her work. But inspite of all the adults her determination was so strong that’s she continue her work till her death. This is perennial source of inspiration to the future generation the dedication to the cause they have accepted.

The Hon’ble Vice-chancellor Prof. Shahsikala Wanjari speak extensively on Savitribai and Mahtama Phule work for Women’s and down trodden people in India.

Shri. Ramesh Patange the well know Social Activists in his speech is given a brief history Savitribai Phule work and also said that today’s generation should not forgot the Savitribai Phule work and his dedication.

This programme was attended by the all the Teaching and Non-teaching staff. This programme is also successful.

A Special Lecture on Constitution Values for re-building Inclusive Growth and Development

A Special Lecture is organized by Dr. Ambedkar Chair on Constitution Values for re-building Inclusive Growth and Development (Chief Guest Prof. D. N. Sandanshiv, former Member of Law Commission of India and Former Principal of Siddharth Law College, Mumbai and Dr. Ambedkar Law College, Aurangabad) :

The Chief guest extensively explain the Importance of Constitution Value. He said follow the Constitution Democracy and avoid the use of unconstitutional method. He also said that in India for to follow the constitutional values is very important to maintain the social and economic balances in India.

Madam Vice-chancellor talk on the role of Dr. Ambedkar for Making the Constitution of India and the Importance of our Constitution Value in the Present Contest.

Shri. Rajesh Wankhede, Head, Law of School, Mumbai – 49 proposed the vote of thanks.

This programme was attended by the Law School of SNDT Women’s University at large extend and Teaching and Non-teaching staff. This programme is also successful.

Panel Discussion on Union Budget 2017-18

On 17.02.2017 Dr. Ambedkar Chair of SNDT Women’s University, Mumbai organized a Panel Discussion on “The Union Budget 2017-18” chaired by Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Prof. Shashikala Wanjari and Prof. Kisan Ingole introduced the theme.

Three Panelists – Shri Ravi Duggal analyzed “”Social Sector Budget and Macro Economic Policies of India”, Prof. Vibhuti Patel focused on Gender Budgeting and Prof. Kisan Ingole examined “Financial Allocation for Schedule Class Plan (SCP) and “Tribal Sub Plan” (TSP). Shri. Sanjay Phad gave vote of thanks to teachers and students of P. G. Department and colleges conducted by and affiliated to SNDT Women’s University, Mumbai.
