Mr. Manoj Kumar Shrivastav, Additional Director of the Madhya Pradesh Government and eminent literary critic, delivered the keynote address, emphasizing the intrinsic connection between literature and freedom struggle. Panel Discussions:

सिंगोष्ठी का उद् घाटन हकया मुख्यअहतहथ केरूप मेंएसएनडीटी महहला हिश्वहिद्यालय की कु लगुरु प्रोफे सर
उज्वला चक्रदेि ने। उन्ोिंनेकहा- यहद हम अपनेजीिन मेंभक्तक्त के महत्व को समझ लेंतो जीिन सफल
हो जाएगा। भक्तक्त या लगन या हकसी काययके प्रहत सिंपूियहनष्ठा- यही तो भक्तक्त काल के सिंतोिंऔर कहियोिं
नेहकया था, हजसका व्यापक प्रभाि पूरेदेश की जनता पर पडा, जो आज भी अहमट है।

समाज की जीिन शैली ही पररिहतयत कर दी। जो समाज भय मेंजीनेलगा था, उसेसिंत और भक्त कहियोिं

कु लीनतािाद सेमुक्त है। यही कारि हैहक 600 िषयसेअहधक समय बीत जानेपर भी िह हमारेसमाज
को हदशा देरहा हैऔर हमारेजीिन का अटू ट हहस्सा है।
महिबेन नानािटी महहला महाहिद्यालय की टर स्टी श्रीमती हहमाद्री नानािटी नेमहाहिद्यालय मेंइस सेहमनार

800 सालोिंमेंभारतीय भाषाओिंमेंजो सिंत और भक्तक्त साहहत्य रचा गया उसनेसिंपूियसमाज मेंजागरूकता
फै लाई और उसनेजो समाज तैयार हकया िही देश केस्वाधीनता सिंघषयकी शक्तक्त बना।

एस.एन.डी.टी. महिला विश्वविद्यालय मुंबई संस्कृत-विभाग तथाभारतीय ज्ञान, संस्कृत एवं योग केन्द्र द्वारा दिनांक १८.११.२०२३, शनिवार को श्रीमद्भगवद्गीता पठन स्पर्धा के अंतर्गत चतुर्थ अध्याय के पठन का आयोजन किया गया। कार्यक्रम का शुभारंभ दीप प्रज्वलन एवं भगवद्गीता की प्रार्थना द्वारा हुआ। संस्कृत विभाग के अध्यक्ष एवं भारतीय ज्ञान संस्कृत एवं योग केन्द्र के निर्देशक माननीय जितेन्द्र तिवारी महोदय ने अध्यक्षीय उद्बोधन से स्पर्धकों का उत्साहवर्धन किया ।
विभाग के प्राध्यापक डॉ. माधव फाटक ,प्राध्यापिका डॉ. अमृता एवं विभाग की भूतपूर्व छात्रा प्रियंका वैद्य और सुवर्णा निवाते ने निर्णायक की भूमिका का वहन किया । स्पर्धा का विभाजन २ विभागों में किया गया था। प्रथम विभागान्तर्गत १२ वर्ष से कम आयु वाले एवं द्वितीय विभागान्तर्गत १२ वर्ष से उपर के स्पर्धको का समावेश किया गया था। सभी स्पर्धकों की उत्साहपूर्ण प्रस्तुति से समग्र वातावरण गीतामय हो गया था ।
स्पर्धा समाप्त होने के बाद पुरस्कार वितरण एवं समापन समारोह किया गया जिसमें मुख्यातिथि के रूप में कर्नल चैतन्य चक्रदेव और श्रीमती केतकी चक्रदेव उपस्थित रहे। प्रथम विभागान्तर्ग रीया राहुल कुलकर्णी ने प्रथम, प्रिशा धर्मेश सोलंकी और दुर्वा अमेय साखरेने द्वितीय एवं नव्या मनीष शाह और किंजल दिनेश रफु किया ने तृतीय स्थान प्राप्त किया। द्वितीय विभागान्तर्ग डॉ. तृप्तिकेनीने प्रथम,सरिता फडनविस ने द्वितीय एवं प्रीती भारत मिस्त्री और ममता हितेश मसरानी ने तृतीय स्थान प्राप्त किया। सभी विजेताओं को मंचस्थ महानुभावों के द्वारा प्रमाणपत्र एवं पुरस्कार से सम्मानित किया गया ।मुंबई, राईगढ, थाने, वलनाई, पुणे, सुरत (गुजरात), पालघर और नागपुर से कुल २९ प्रतिभागियों ने उत्साहपूर्वक भाग लिया। शांति मंत्रके साथ कार्यक्रम का समापन हुआ। प्राध्यापिका डॉ.अमृता ने समग्र कार्यक्रम का सफल संचालन किया। कार्यक्रम में कुल ५६ लोग उपस्थित रह

I. JAGRANI PROJECT ‘NARI SE NARAYANI’ Launch at Patkar Hall
On the occasion of International Women’s Day 2024, a National Seminar on ‘The Contribution of Women in Nation Building since Vedic Period’ unfolded on 6-7 March 2024, organized by Bharatiya, Gyan, Sanskrit Evam Yog Kendra (BHAGYASY) and the Research Centre for Women’s Studies (RCWS), SNDT WU, Mumbai, in collaboration with Maharashtra State Hindi Sahitya Academy (MSHSA).
The Jagrani project was inaugurated during the event, graced by Chief Guest revered Shri. Dinesh Kumarji, Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor Prof. Ujwala Chakradeo, Pro ViceChancellor Prof. Ruby Ojha, Registrar Dr. Vilas Nandavadekar, and President, MSHSA Dr. Sitala Prasad Dubey. Respected Shri. Dinesh Kumarji delivered the inaugural address ‘Amrit Vachan,’ emphasizing women’s role in India’s intellectual heritage. Hon’ble VC Prof. Ujwala Chakradeo highlighted the project’s significance for women empowerment at SNDTWU in alignment with the viksit bharat@2047 campaign. Prof. Ruby Ojha noted its relevance, especially in RCWS’s golden jubilee year RCWS@50, founded by Dr. Neera Desai in 1974. Dr. Jitendra Tiwari, Director BHAGYASY, welcomed the esteemed guests, while Dr. Vatsala Shoukla presented an overview of the program and visuals of ‘Nari Utkarsh Pratham Sopan.’
The voices of Narayanis were represented through five distinct groups, and thirty-two Narayanis were felicitated during the ceremony. Ms. Astha Maheta shared a captivating story of a Vedic Rishika using storytelling. The inauguration also featured the launch of ‘The Temples of Bharat – a Journey through Art, Architecture & Culture’ by Prof. Ujwala Chakradeo. The program concluded with a formal vote of thanks from Registrar Dr. Vilas Nandavadekar, with approximately 500 participants registering their presence, marking a significant celebration of women’s contributions.

Two-Week Online Workshop on “Nari Se Narayani: Rediscovering Indian Women Sages’ Intellectual Heritage”
The SNDT Women’s University, Bharatiya Gyan, Sanskrit evam Yog Kendra
(BHAGYASY), takes pleasure in announcing the successful completion of a Two-Week
Online Workshop on “Nari Se Narayani: Rediscovering Indian Women Sages’
Intellectual Heritage”. The workshop was a 10-hour online course conducted on
Google Meet as a part of the Jagrani Project “Narayani – Phase II.” The inauguration
took place on the 18th of April 2024, in the gracious presence of revered Shri Dinesh
Kumar ji, who shared his insightful remarks on the Narayani Phase II project. The
esteemed presence of our Honourable Vice Chancellor, Prof. Ujwala Chakradeo,
alongside around 150 participants, including Narayani’s, marked the occasion.
During the first week of this online workshop, SNDT students as Narayani’s delved into narratives on Rishika’s, exploring themes such as “Rishika: Wisdom of the Matriarchs,” “Rishika: The Legacy of Light,” and “Rishika: The Stories of Enlightenment and Empowerment.” In the second half of the week, various resource persons shared their perspectives on diverse aspects and learnings from women sages, i.e. understanding ‘self’, Indian knowledge system, feminine leadership, science of yoga, Vedic philosophies etc. The workshop ended on 2nd May 2024

The SNDT Women’s University, Mumbai and the Mini Auditorium have jointly organized a seminar on the theme – Rise and Lead: Young Women Pioneering in Technology, Business and Public Life on 29th April 2024. The program was organised by Bharatiya Gyan, Sanskrit evam Yog Kendra (BHAGYASY) and Research Centre for Women’s Studies (RCWS), with support from UMIT, at the Juhu campus of the SNDT WU. The seminar aimed at highlighting the achievements, challenges, and opportunities for young women in various spheres of life, particularly in technology, business, and public leadership roles. The event sought to inspire, empower, and provide a platform for dialogue and networking among young women leaders and aspiring professionals.
The program began with the inauguration session, which was presided over by Hon’ble Vice Chancellor Prof. Ujwala Chkradeo. Also present were Smt. Rekha Sharma, Chairperson NCW New Delhi, Hon’ble Pro-Vice Chancellor of SNDT WU Prof. Ruby Ojha, Registrar Dr. Vilas Nandavadekar, the resource persons, Director BHAGYASY Dr. Jitendra Kumar Tiwari, Deans and faculty members. The inauguration began with the felicitation of the dignitaries and resource persons by Honourable Vice Chancellor Prof Ujwala Chakradeo and Honourable Pro-Vice chancellor Prof. Ruby Ojha.
This was followed by welcome address of Prof. Ruby Ojha Madam who briefly introduced the program and spoke about the collaboration with the National Commission for Women, New Delhi. The seminar proceeded with the speech of Honourable Vice Chancellor Prof. Ujwala Chakradeo. She addressed the audience with the importance of empowering the Women and various women centric projects initiated by SNDT Women’s University. She mentioned Empowering Women in Business, leadership in public life.
The program proceeded with the talk by Smt. Rekha Sharma. She mentioned, “We for You”. Force has to come from within women so that she can progress were her highlights of the speech. It is you, the women who have to make and break your life. She told about emerging technologies. She also mentioned Leadership of women in the corporate world where we are connected digitally and everyone should be connected digitally and economically. She mentioned Stand Up India and Start Up India. She told various points about SEED, economic empowerment, Panchayat se Parliament.
The session concluded by a Formal Vote of Thanks by SNDT Registrar Dr. Vilas Nandavadekar. Around 200 people have joined the seminar and students have actively participated during the question answer session.

She earned her Ph.D. in Software Reengineering from the esteemed Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay, blending a rigorous academic background with substantial field experience.
In her talk, titled “AI and Drones,” Dr Joshi provided an overview of drone technology. Dr. Joshi began by defining drones as Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs), illustrating their development over time. She shared several impactful applications of drones:Emergency Response: In scenarios like flood relief, where traditional methods of distributing food and medicine are hindered, drones prove indispensable for delivering supplies efficiently.
Agriculture: Dr. Joshi explained the use of drones in agriculture for tasks such as pesticide application, which can be cumbersome for farmers. Drone technology simplifies these tasks, allowing for more precise and less labor-intensive farming. Military Surveillance: She highlighted the GARUDA initiative, a military application where drones are utilized for effective surveillance tasks.
Underwater Exploration: Using the exploration of the Titanic as an example, she demonstrated how drones navigate underwater environments, enabling us to explore and document the mysteries of the deep sea.
The lecture also delved into various drone classifications based on wing types, size, payload capacity, drone range, power sources, and motor types. Dr. Joshi touched upon the synergy between blockchain technology and drones, suggesting that integrating these technologies could significantly enhance drone functionalities. Further exploring the versatility of drone technology, she noted its potential in remote charging of batteries, and its utility in providing solutions for disabled individuals by integrating AI to enhance their accessibility and independence. Addressing security concerns, she discussed the potential risks of drone hijacking and offered strategies to mitigate these risks. Dr. Joshi concluded her talk by reflecting on how drone and AI technologies simplify numerous aspects of life, transforming everyday tasks and expanding the boundaries of what is technologically possible.

With an expertise in Infrastructure and Project Management, Ms Pandey, currently as the Vice Chairman and Managing Director (VCMD) of Maharashtra Airport Development Company (MADC) plays a pivotal role in the company’s operations and management of 7 airports of Maharashtra and namely Nagpur and Shirdi airports among others. She is avidly instrumental in delivering the airports at Amravati and Ratnagiri which are under process of construction to give wings to rural air connectivity.
In second session on “Women in Public Sphere: Decision Making and Leading in Public Life,” the speaker Ms Pandey, highlighted the roles and challenges of women in leadership positions within the public sector. One compelling example discussed involved a hypothetical crisis scenario where bombs were placed at various airports, with a woman in a leadership role tasked with managing the situation. This prompted an engaging exchange between the students and the speaker, as they brainstormed potential solutions, illustrating the importance of decisive leadership in crisis management.
Another example shared by the speaker was about the efforts of Mrs. Swati Pandey in aiding sex workers in Kamathipura. Through her initiative, the children of these workers were issued Aadhar cards, symbolizing a significant step towards recognizing and securing their rights and identities. Throughout the session, various other scenarios were discussed, which allowed the speaker and students to explore different strategic solutions. The speaker also addressed the issue of “missing women” in the Indian bureaucracy, shedding light on the underrepresentation of women in decisionmaking roles. She shared inspiring stories of how women are breaking barriers and making their mark in governance, thereby motivating the audience to consider the impact of inclusive leadership in shaping a more equitable society.

An Urban Regional Planner with an experience of 20 years in the development sector. Dr. Megha Phansalkar specializes in community led development in rural water supply, rural/urban sanitation, and rural development with focus on livelihoods.
Her work in the livelihood space brought her closer to artisan segment and resulted in starting a social entrepreneur supporting rural artisans across 18 states, thus helping 10000 networked artisan families earn livelihood through the enterprise model. The main agenda of the talk was Becoming an entrepreneur. She mentioned Entrepreneurship is the process of identifying opportunities, marshaling resources, and taking calculated risks to create and grow a business venture. This report aims to provide insights into the journey of becoming an entrepreneur, highlighting key steps, challenges, and strategies for success.
She mentioned about Identifying Opportunities, developing a Business Idea, Creating a Business Plan. She mentioned Entrepreneurship inherently involves risk-taking, but successful entrepreneurs are adept at managing and mitigating risks. They conduct thorough risk assessments, develop contingency plans, and make informed decisions based on data and insights. Embracing calculated risks is essential for seizing opportunities and driving innovation.
She highlighted “Women are at the lowest part of the value chain”. It is significant issue regarding gender inequality and the distribution of opportunities and resources within various industries and sectors.
She asked how many students’ mothers are working and how many of them are entrepreneurs. The situation was only 25% mothers are working and only one of them is an entrepreneur. Second question she asked was how many students wants to work. She gave example of Tai Ruziana who gives training of Warli Painting. She told points on Koushalya Sakhi. The session concluded with the remarks of Dr Medha Tapiawala, Dean Hmanities, SNDT Women’s University.

The SNDT Women’s University, Mumbai, Bharatiya Gyan, Sanskrit Evam Yog Kendra, in collaboration with, University of Québec à Montréal (UQAM), Bureau du Québec à Mumbai (BQM), and Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) organized an International Research Methodology Workshop on Field Work Research in India – Issues and Challenges on Monday 13th March, at the Committee Room, SNDT Women’s University, Juhu Campus, Mumbai. The primary aim of this methodology workshop was to bring together Indian and Canadian PhD candidates, doing field research in India in the field of humanities and social sciences to discuss methodologies applied. The primary aim of this very unique international workshop on the 13th March 15, 2023, was to bring together Indian and Canadian PHD candidates, doing field research in India in the field of humanities and social sciences to discuss methodologies applied.
The program was inaugurated by lighting of the lamp by the honourable dignitaries – Prof. Ujwala Chakradeo, Honourable Vice Chancellor, SNDTWU, Mumbai, Mr Francis Paradis, Director and Consul Quebec Government office in Mumbai, Prof. Bino Paul, Deputy-Director, Pro-Vice Chancellor, Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Prof. Mathieu Boisvert, Director, CERIAS, UQAM, Canada. Dr. Jitendra Tiwari, Director, Bharatiya Gyan, Sanskrit Evam Yog Kendra, felicitated the honourable guests. This was followed by the beautiful rendering of the University song and Saraswati Vandana by the students and teachers of the Sanskrit department of the University.
Honourable Vice Chancellor in her presidential note emphasized that, “the two stages of research are symbolized by Ganapati and Saraswati, and therefore, we offered both Vandana’s at the beginning. Ganpati helps us internalize the information and Saraswati gives us vocabulary – the power to express that information. Indeed, they constitute the two most significant stages of any research process.” Mr. Francis, in his speech, focused on more cross-cultural academic exchanges between Indian and Quebec researchers. Prof. Boisvert, in his brief note, shared his long association with the SNDTWU and expressed his gratitude towards the University for hosting such an important workshop. Prof. Paul stressed on the acute need for an intersectional lens in our approach and methodology of research. Dr. Vatsala Shoukla, (Coordinator, Bharatiya Gyan, Sanskrit Evam Yog Kendra) welcomed the guests and the august gathering of research scholars and fraternity from Canada and India and introduced the theme of the workshop. Dr. Sangeeta Desai offered a formal vote of thanks.
Panel 1 was moderated by Dr. Vatsala Shoukla. Mr. Marwan Attalah (UQAM), in his presentation, “From participant observation to the co-construction of research” emphasized how advancements in indigenous research ethics in Canada might inspire any researcher to reconsider how one conducts research and interacts with collaborators in the field. Ms. Riddhima Sharma (PhD Candidate, BGSU, Ohio), during her video presentation on “Doing (Auto) Ethnographic Research in the Indian Digital Streets” stressed on the importance of critical digital ethnography, with the blurring of boundaries between the online and real worlds, and how she used auto-ethnographic methodologies to examine digital social media spaces. Ms. Soummya Prakash (TISS) discussed her study on the Paniya tribes in the Wayanad region of the south Indian state of Kerala. Video interview of Prof. Veena Poonacha’s was also screened during the workshop. While sharing her fieldwork experiences based on her recent study with tribal communities in Coorg, Karnataka state, Prof. Poonacha remarked that one must conduct research not for the community but in collaboration with the community to give the voiceless a voice.
Panel 2 was moderated by Dr. Ritambhara Hebbar, SDS, Tata Institute of Social Sciences. Ms. Émeraude Lapointe-Provost, (UQAM), “Learning to read the details”, described how thorough reading had allowed her to develop fresh perspectives on the facts gathered, and the fresh categories for analysis. Ms. Liji Santosh, (SNDTWU), “ Field as a Dynamic Space: Insights and Unlearning’s from Empowering Women of Kudumbashree” addressed the value of a multi-method approach in the workshop. This approach gives women’s concerns and interests priority, which makes the process more interactive while also introducing fresher perspectives into the research. Dr. Sheema Fatima (TISS), “Town planning and urban growth in Patna” emphasized on the significance of exploring additional sources for the study, such as local sources, fiction, and vernacular literature, and not just focusing on institutionalized formats and accepting them as reliable data sources.
The 3rd panel was moderated by Dr. Sangeeta Desai. Priyanandini Singh, PhD candidate (TISS) presented her paper on “Ethnographic Approaches to the Field during a Pandemic: Musahar Women as Vikas Mitras in Bihar.” The following observations are based on Musahar women who work as Vikas Mitras in Bihar, India. Immersion in the daily lives of Musahar women is a crucial starting point for research on the complex marginalisations they experience. Methodological and epistemological consequences for distant and digital technologies are provided by these Musahars findings. Otavio Amaral, PhD Candidate, UQAM (cotutelle, EHESS-Paris) presented on “Between Authority and Alterity: for a reflexive approach of the fieldwork in Anthropology”. Mr. Amaral emphasized that social science research, regardless of the discipline, required us to come into contact with another individual. And therefore, the speaker stated that the goal of his study was to conduct a critical analysis of the power dynamics present in encounters with the Other. Aparna Kulkarni, PhD Candidate, SNDT WU presented her paper on “Participatory Development as A Methodological Approach for Field Work”. She critically examined the relative effectiveness of the State and NGOs as development actors/agencies; while drawing on the larger theoretical framework of Amartya Sen’s capabilities approach and Sabina Alkire’s concept of Participatory Development. Prof Ruby Ojha, Pro-Vice Chancellor, SNDTWU, in her valedictory address stressed the need of organizing more such conferences to facilitate academic sharing and exchanges between international research scholars, i.e. PhD students and faculties. Prof Mathieu Boisvert wrapped up the workshop discussions and Dr. Jitendra Tiwari delivered the vote of thanks.

The colloquium aimed at examining the key elements of artistic research and giving an overview of how it is carried out in India, with artists enrolled in PhD programmes at the SNDT WU and Mumbai University, as well as in Canada, where it is practiced as part of the doctoral programme (Études et pratiques des arts) at Université du Québec à Montréal. Moreover, epistemological and methodological concerns were discussed through examples of various research projects incorporating Indian classical artforms.

Dr. Jonathan Voyer, Ph.D., UQAM and musician, spoke on “Artistic practice and artistic practice as research.” While exploring the difficult connection between academia and art, Dr. Voyer argued against the divide between creative practice as itself and artistic practice as study.
Dr. Meenal Deshpande, PhD (SNDT WU), presented her paper on “The Aesthetics of Jod- Ragas in Hindustani Classical Music.” Dr. Deshpande focused on her study on the jod ragas performed by particular gharanas and their contribution to Hindustani music. She insisted that thorough and intensive reviews of the relevant historical and analytical literature make up the research technique. The study is based on her personal experience, learning and performing jod ragas. Dr. Vaidehi Rele-Lal, PhD (Nalanda Dance Research Centre), in her presentation- Synergy of Science and Shaastra – Fitness for Dance! argued that dancing for wellness is a widely adopted idea, but incorporating “Wellness for Dance” into standard classical dance education programmes can assist dancers of all Indian classical dance styles live better lives. The students of Sanskrit Department, SNDT WU performed on the Bhagavadjjukiyam – a classical Sanskrit satirical play by Bodhayana.
Panel 2 was moderated by eminent Bharatnatyam exponent and creative choreographer Mrs. Rajshree Shirke. Mrs. Julie Beaulieu, PhD candidate, UQAM, presented a research paper on “The dancing body as production of knowledge.” The presentation’s main focus was a discussion of how the dancing body might generate knowledge within the framework of a choreographic composition. As a starting point, the methodology and method of the speaker’s current PhD thesis were outlined.
The research looks at how the interaction of the dancer with the mythico-philosophical imagery of the yogin influences the sensory experience during the creative process. Dr. Rekha Tandon, PhD, presented on “Choreographing in the language of Odissi with reference to the principles of yoga.” Based on unique interpretations of what constitutes “proper” and “incorrect” form, Dr. Tandon asserted that there are numerous distinct “styles” within the Odissi dance tradition. She had come up with a convincing internal reasoning for herself as a result of her extensive instruction under several Gurus in the classical tradition over a long period of time. Mrs. Smriti Talpade (Natyasmriti Academy of Performing Arts) presented on “Critical Analysis of Marg tattwa of Taal with Chhand.” The behaviour of Marg tattwa and the marg paddhatti that the taal adheres to as specified in Sangeet Ratnakar were clearly described in her research presentation.
The examples made it evident how the chhand alters the pattern with each new course the marg tatwa takes while maintaining the other elements of the taal. Dr. Madhuri Deshmukh, Associate Prof. at Nalanda Dance Research Centre, in her paper- “The Art of classical dance in performance and in research”, said that a careful examination of dance’s history reveals that it has long served as the foundation of Indian culture. Dance has influenced many other art forms, including music, painting, sculpture, etc. since antiquity.
The third panel was moderated by Prof. Mathieu Boisvert. Mrs. Sonia St-Michel, UQAM, Quebec presented on “Bhava: bridging creation and Theravada Buddhism.” She discussed her findings from a creative process she began in 2021–2022, while taking a graduate course on „Theravada meditation and the creative process. ‟ She went right into the construction of a duet exploring ideas of „Flight‟ with one foot in Theravada Buddhism and the other in Odissi dance. Ms. Alapini Joshi, PhD candidate (SNDT WU), in her paper on “Methodologies for Research in Music”, argued that it is important to enjoy musical treasures as they are being created.
Therefore, research procedures in music are a little different compare to other fields. Her discussion tries to comprehend the research approaches employed for music research in light of this demand. Kasturi Deshpande, PhD candidate (Bombay University) and musician presented a paper on “Analysis of Jod, Mishra, Sankirna and Anvat ragas with reference to Gharana.” She said Hindustani and Carnatic styles of Indian classical music each have their own distinct histories and traditions that date back more than three thousand years.
Gharana and Ragas are the two main pillars of Hindustani music. In Hindustani classical music, the Gharanas, commonly referred to as khayal gayaki, denote various performing styles. Finally, the colloquium concluded with Prof. Mathieu Boisvert summed up the discussions. A token of appreciation was given to all speakers and the moderators by Dr. Vatsala Shoukla and Dr. Dnyaneshwari Talpade. The program marked the second event in the series of Golden Jubilee Celebrations of India’s pioneering women’s studies centre (RCWS), founded in 1974 by the visionary Dr. Neera Desai, affectionately known as Neera Ben. Prof. Ruby Ojha, Director of RCWS, launched the Golden Jubilee Program, ‘RCWS@50 –Celebrating Golden Legacy of Change & Challenge,’ during the 14th Dr. Neera Desai Memorial Lecture on February 15th, 2024.
On the first day, speakers included André Fortino (an affiliated scholar at BHAGYASY) and Lou Villapadierna, both PhD scholars at CERIAS under the Program on Studies & Practice of Art. Dr. Vatsala Shoukla, while welcoming the speakers, introduced the research confluence and emphasized its role in facilitating the exchange of ideas among researchers, students, and faculties on one hand and strengthening the institutional ties between UQAM and SNDTWU on the other. André Fortino focused on the cultural, ritualistic, and artistic dimensions of Theyyam performers in Kerala, providing valuable insights into the Komarams community’s role in this unique ritual. Lou Villapadierna explored the symbolic significance of ash in Varanasi, highlighting intersections of caste, untouchability, gender, and the complex functionality of ashes.
On the second day, Marwan Attalah’s presentation centered on the Tibetan selfimmolation, exploring its historical and political dimensions and providing insights into the socio-cultural-religious context of the Tibetan community. His exploration of selfimmolation as a radical strategy employed by Tibetan people to challenge authority and mobilize others added depth to the discussions. Prof. Mathieu Boisvert’s investigation into the Sakhī Sampradāya in Northern India explored ascetic communities with a feminine identity to be closer to deities like Kṛṣṇa or Rama, providing unique insights into the web of meaning and practices shaping their collective identity. These sessions were followed by engaging discussions involving students and research scholars from India and Canada. The confluence offered a profound exploration at the intersection of gender within cultural, spiritual, historical, and political dimensions, adding depth to the ongoing Golden Jubilee celebration of RCWS@50. Organized by Bharatiya, Gyan, Sanskrit evam Yog Kendra and RCWS, SNDT WU, Mumbai, this first-of-its-kind training program boasted an experiential learning approach. Guiding this transformative journey is the visionary Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ujwala Chakradeo, who conceived the ‘Narayani’ training under the ambitious Viksit Bharat@2047 campaign. The inaugural day witnessed an electrifying interactive session led by Prof. Chakradeo, igniting a fervor among students from diverse campuses of SNDT WU, representing different Indian states.
The Vice-Chancellor’s engaging session became the heartbeat of the training, infusing it with a pulsating spirit. The day began with an early morning campus tour at 5:30 AM, creating a lively atmosphere. Dr. Brijesh Singh simplified Yoga fundamentals, calling it the ‘Information of transformation. ‘Under the mentorship of Dr. Jitendra Tiwari, the dynamic youth leader Ms. Astha Maheta conducted captivating storytelling session on Rishika Lopamudra. भारतीय ज्ञान परिंपरा सनातन हैऔर िह व्यक्तक्त के सिाांगीि हिकास तथा सामूहहक हिकास के हलए सिंकक्तल्पत है। भारतीय ज्ञान परिंपरा पुरातन नहीिंहै, यह सनातन है। यहद हमारी सिंस्कृ हत बची है, तो िह व्यिहार और व्यसन के कारि। परिंपरा व्यिहार सेही आती है। जो खो गया है, उसेहम खोज सकतेहैं।

्रो. उज्वला चक्रदेि, कु लगुरु नेकहा हक िास्तुसमाज का आइना है। हजस समाज मेंहजस तरह हक जरूरत होती है, िहााँउस तरह की रचना बनती है। मोहेंजोदारो जैसी सभ्यता मेंकौक्तिल हॉल थे। तीन हजार साल पहलेकौक्तिल हॉल था। यह उनके गव्हनयि केहलयेहोगा। इसहलयेकौिंहसल हॉल नाम हदया। िहािं के स्टर क्चर ईिंटोिंसेबनेथे। उससेउनका िैज्ञाहनक ज्ञान पता चलता है। िास्तुशास्त्र इहतहास की खुली हकताब है। उसकी भाषा मालूम होनी चाहहये, उसेपढ़नेकी ज़रूरत है। हडप्पा और मोहेंजोदारोिं में साियजहनक स्नानागार थे, जल हनकासी की व्यिथथा थी। इसी तरह रानी की िाि मेंजल प्रबिंधन की उत्तम व्यिथथा थी। उन्ोिंनेबताया हक मिंहदर एक जीहित िास्तुहै। पूरा समाज उससेजुडा होता है।
डॉ. अहजिंक्य निरेनेकमययोग एििं पॉहजहटि मनोहिज्ञान पर बोलतेहुए कहा हक हमेंअपनेकाययमेंरुहच बनाए रखनेके हलए सकारात्मकता को बनाए रखना चाहहए। हमेंअपनी व्यक्तक्तगत मानहसक शक्तक्तयोिं को कें द्र मेंरखतेहुए अपनेअध्ययन अध्यापन को आधार बनाना चाहहए।
डॉ. देिीश्री हसद्धेश नेआयुिेद पर बोलतेहुए कहा हक आयुिेद रक्षात्मक ि हचहकत्सकीय हिकल्पोिं पर काययकरता है। उन्ोिंनेबताया हक आधुहनक शोधोिं के अनुसार हिज्ञान की भाषा मेंिैहदक ज्ञान और आयुिेद को समझनेकी कोहशश की जा रही है।
चौथेहदन के प्रथम सत्र मेंव्याख्यान केहलए प्रो. रामराज उपाध्याय को हनमिंहत्रत हकया गया। उनका हिषय था- “िैहदक गुरु हशष्य परिंपरा और कल्याि”। इसी हिषय को आगेबढातेहुए आमिंहत्रत व्याख्याता ने बताया हक उस काल मेंअध्ययन अध्यापन का एकमात्र साधन श्रुहत परिंपरा थी, यही पहली परिंपरा थी और उसी को श्रुहत कहा जाता है। हशष्य परिंपरा मेंसबसेपहलेब्रहमा जी नेश्रुहत परिंपरा को हनभातेहुए िहशष्ठजी को यह ज्ञान हदया और िहशष्ठजी नेहफर शक्तक्त को ज्ञान हदया और शक्तक्त नेपाराशर को और पाराशर नेव्यासजी को ज्ञान हदया। इस परिंपरा का ितयमान समय मेंभी अक्तस्तत्व बना रहेउसके हलए उज्जैन मेंराष्ट्रीय िेद हिद्या सिंथथान मेंइस परिंपरा को हिकहसत हकया जा रहा है।
प्रो. के. के. पाण्डेय नेअपनेव्याख्यान मेंबताया हक ज्योहतष को िेदोिंका नेत्र कहा गया है।
्योहतष मेंहनरीक्षि, परीक्षि, सिंशोधन और प्रयोग महत्वपूियहैं। ज्योहतष मेंगिना के आधार पर ही भहिष्यिािी की जाती है। हमारेज्ञान का उद्देश् पुरुषाथयकरना है। हमारी सिंस्कृ हत पुरुषाथयचतुष्ट्य- धमय, अथय, काम, मोक्ष की पोषक रही है, शोषि की नहीिं। िह मौन नहीिंरही है, हजतना सुनेंगेउतना समझेंगे। ज्योहतष के अनुसार धमय, अथय, काम येतीनोिं हमलकर मोक्ष को प्राप्त हो जातेहैंऔर इन तीनोिंके करने सेमोक्ष अपनेआप हमल जाता है।
तत्पश्चात भोपाल सेआए हिद्वान मनोज कु मार श्रीिास्ति नेअपनेव्याख्यान का हिषय रामायि और महाभारत मेंमूल्योिं पर कें हद्रत हकया। उनका कहना था हक अयोध्या राजपररिार की प्रथम स्त्री सीता और हक्तस्तनापुर की प्रथम स्त्री द्रौपदी के साथ हुए अपमानजनक व्यिहार को हम समान रूप सेनहीिं मान सकते। जहााँसीता एक व्यक्तक्त के द्वारा अपमाहनत हुई, िहीिंउसके हिपरीत द्रौपदी को समाज ने, उसके स्वाहभमान को प्रताहडत हकया था। हजस सभा मेंद्रौपदी को लाया गया था, िह राजसभा थी, जहााँ समाज का प्रत्येक िगयका व्यक्तक्त अपनेअपनेिगयका प्रहतहनहधत्व कर रहा था। उस सभा मेंसभी आदरिीय सदस्ोिंजैसेभीष्म हपतामह, गुरु द्रोि, गुरु कृ पाचायय, मिंत्री ि दू सरेमहाराजाओिं का मौन रह जाना एक प्रश्न तो खडा करता हैहक राजकु ल की िधूके अपमान को िेबलपूियक एििं शक्तक्तपूियक नहीिं रोक पाए। क्या कारि था?

्री हाहदयक भट्ट नेभारतीय सिंगीत पर बात करतेहुए बताया हक हमारेदेश मेंसिंगीत कला की एक अत्यिंत समृद्ध परिंपरा है, जो हमारेजीिन का अिंग रही है। भारतीय सिंगीत मेंमानि जीिन, उसकी सिंस्कृ हत ि मूल्योिंका समािेश रहा है। हकन्तुहमारेयहााँसिंगीत की धरोहर को ठीक सेसिंभाला नहीिंगया है। उन्ोिंने कहा हक भारतीय हसनेसिंगीत का भारतीय समाज पर व्यापक प्रभाि पडा है, हकन्तुउसेशास्त्रीय सिंगीत की तुलना मेंहेय समझा जाता है।

्रो. रूबी ओझा नेितयमान समय मेंभारतीय अथयव्यिथथा की हिशेषताओिं सेहमेंपररहचत कराया। भारतीय सभ्यता नेहिशाल सिंपहत्त का हनमायि हकया था, जो हिश्व की सबसेबडी अथयव्यिथथा थी। उन्ोिंने बताया हक 2047 तक आतेआतेभारत हिश्व की सियश्रेष्ठ अथयव्यिथथा बन जाएगा। उन्ोिंनेयह भी कहा हक भारत सरकार नई नौकररयोिंके सृजन, स्टाटयअप योजनाओिं, आयुष्मान भारत जैसी स्वास्थ्ययोजनाओिं ि राष्ट्रीय स्वास्थ्य उत्पादन की सफलता के हलए भी बहुत कोहशश कर रही है।
भारतीय हिद्या भिन हदल्ली की डीन प्रो. शहशबाला नेहिश्व गुरु भारत की अिधारिा पर अत्यिंत महत्वपूिय एििं उपयोगी व्याख्यान हदया। उन्ोिंनेबताया हक प्रारिंभ सेही भारत की परोपकार की उदात्त भािना हकस प्रकार अथयतिंत्र, बाज़ार, कला, व्यापार इत्याहद प्रत्येक क्षेत्र मेंभारत को बाकी देशोिं सेअलग कर उच्च हशखर पर थथाहपत करती है। अन्य देशोिंकी भािना और नीहत दू सरोिंका दमन करनेकी एििंमात्र अपना हिकास करनेकी रही है, जबहक उससेहिपरीत भारत की भािना हमेशा सेही सब को साथ लेकर चलने की, बिुत्व की, हमत्रता की रही है।
सोहफया हिश्वहिद्यालय, अमेररका के प्रो. कुिं दन हसिंह नेभारतीय ज्ञान परिंपरा पर गहन हिमशयप्रस्तुत हकया। उन्ोिंनेहमारेगौरिशाली अतीत को सबको बतानेकी आिश्कता और मानिता के हलए उसकी हिश्व दृहष्ट् का प्रसार करनेकी बात कही। उन्ोिंनेकहा हक िेदोिं और पुरािोिं का हमारेजीिन मेंअहत महत्व है, हजनके हबना हमारा प्रािमय कोश मानिता के हलए शून्य हो जाता है। प्रािमय कोश की कमी सेअहिंकार और क्रोध का जन्म होता है, जो मनुष्य के हलए मोक्ष के रास्तेबिंद कर देता है।
्रो. उज्वला चक्रदेि, कु लगुरु नेकहा हक िास्तुसमाज का आइना है। हजस समाज मेंहजस तरह हक जरूरत होती है, िहााँउस तरह की रचना बनती है। मोहेंजोदारो जैसी सभ्यता मेंकौक्तिल हॉल थे। तीन हजार साल पहलेकौक्तिल हॉल था। यह उनके गव्हनयि केहलयेहोगा। इसहलयेकौिंहसल हॉल नाम हदया। िहािं के स्टर क्चर ईिंटोिंसेबनेथे। उससेउनका िैज्ञाहनक ज्ञान पता चलता है। िास्तुशास्त्र इहतहास की खुली हकताब है। उसकी भाषा मालूम होनी चाहहये, उसेपढ़नेकी ज़रूरत है। हडप्पा और मोहेंजोदारोिं में साियजहनक स्नानागार थे, जल हनकासी की व्यिथथा थी। इसी तरह रानी की िाि मेंजल प्रबिंधन की उत्तम व्यिथथा थी। उन्ोिंनेबताया हक मिंहदर एक जीहित िास्तुहै। पूरा समाज उससेजुडा होता है।
डॉ. अहजिंक्य निरेनेकमययोग एििं पॉहजहटि मनोहिज्ञान पर बोलतेहुए कहा हक हमेंअपनेकाययमेंरुहच बनाए रखनेके हलए सकारात्मकता को बनाए रखना चाहहए। हमेंअपनी व्यक्तक्तगत मानहसक शक्तक्तयोिं को कें द्र मेंरखतेहुए अपनेअध्ययन अध्यापन को आधार बनाना चाहहए।
डॉ. देिीश्री हसद्धेश नेआयुिेद पर बोलतेहुए कहा हक आयुिेद रक्षात्मक ि हचहकत्सकीय हिकल्पोिं पर काययकरता है। उन्ोिंनेबताया हक आधुहनक शोधोिं के अनुसार हिज्ञान की भाषा मेंिैहदक ज्ञान और आयुिेद को समझनेकी कोहशश की जा रही है।
चौथेहदन के प्रथम सत्र मेंव्याख्यान केहलए प्रो. रामराज उपाध्याय को हनमिंहत्रत हकया गया। उनका हिषय था- “िैहदक गुरु हशष्य परिंपरा और कल्याि”। इसी हिषय को आगेबढातेहुए आमिंहत्रत व्याख्याता ने बताया हक उस काल मेंअध्ययन अध्यापन का एकमात्र साधन श्रुहत परिंपरा थी, यही पहली परिंपरा थी और उसी को श्रुहत कहा जाता है। हशष्य परिंपरा मेंसबसेपहलेब्रहमा जी नेश्रुहत परिंपरा को हनभातेहुए िहशष्ठजी को यह ज्ञान हदया और िहशष्ठजी नेहफर शक्तक्त को ज्ञान हदया और शक्तक्त नेपाराशर को और पाराशर नेव्यासजी को ज्ञान हदया। इस परिंपरा का ितयमान समय मेंभी अक्तस्तत्व बना रहेउसके हलए उज्जैन मेंराष्ट्रीय िेद हिद्या सिंथथान मेंइस परिंपरा को हिकहसत हकया जा रहा है।
प्रो. के. के. पाण्डेय नेअपनेव्याख्यान मेंबताया हक ज्योहतष को िेदोिंका नेत्र कहा गया है।
्योहतष मेंहनरीक्षि, परीक्षि, सिंशोधन और प्रयोग महत्वपूियहैं। ज्योहतष मेंगिना के आधार पर ही भहिष्यिािी की जाती है। हमारेज्ञान का उद्देश् पुरुषाथयकरना है। हमारी सिंस्कृ हत पुरुषाथयचतुष्ट्य- धमय, अथय, काम, मोक्ष की पोषक रही है, शोषि की नहीिं। िह मौन नहीिंरही है, हजतना सुनेंगेउतना समझेंगे। ज्योहतष के अनुसार धमय, अथय, काम येतीनोिं हमलकर मोक्ष को प्राप्त हो जातेहैंऔर इन तीनोिंके करने सेमोक्ष अपनेआप हमल जाता है।
तत्पश्चात भोपाल सेआए हिद्वान मनोज कु मार श्रीिास्ति नेअपनेव्याख्यान का हिषय रामायि और महाभारत मेंमूल्योिं पर कें हद्रत हकया। उनका कहना था हक अयोध्या राजपररिार की प्रथम स्त्री सीता और हक्तस्तनापुर की प्रथम स्त्री द्रौपदी के साथ हुए अपमानजनक व्यिहार को हम समान रूप सेनहीिं मान सकते। जहााँसीता एक व्यक्तक्त के द्वारा अपमाहनत हुई, िहीिंउसके हिपरीत द्रौपदी को समाज ने, उसके स्वाहभमान को प्रताहडत हकया था। हजस सभा मेंद्रौपदी को लाया गया था, िह राजसभा थी, जहााँ समाज का प्रत्येक िगयका व्यक्तक्त अपनेअपनेिगयका प्रहतहनहधत्व कर रहा था। उस सभा मेंसभी आदरिीय सदस्ोिंजैसेभीष्म हपतामह, गुरु द्रोि, गुरु कृ पाचायय, मिंत्री ि दू सरेमहाराजाओिं का मौन रह जाना एक प्रश्न तो खडा करता हैहक राजकु ल की िधूके अपमान को िेबलपूियक एििं शक्तक्तपूियक नहीिं रोक पाए। क्या कारि था?
आईआईटी मुिंबई के प्रो. आशीष पाण्डेय नेकहा हक हमारेशैहक्षक लक्ष्य जीिन की िास्तहिक समस्ाओिं को कें द्र मेंरखतेहुए हनधायररत करनेहोिंगे। हमेंजीिन की िास्तहिक समस्ाएिं शोध समस्ाओिं में पररिहतयत करनी होिंगी और हेय, हेयहेतु, हान, हानोपाय पर आधाररत भारतीय ज्ञान परिंपरा के अनुसार उनके समाधान हनकालनेहोिंगे। उन्ोिंनेहिहभन्न गहतहिहधयोिं द्वारा कक्षाओिं मेंभारतीय ज्ञान परिंपरा को थथाहपत करनेकी प्रहक्रया पर प्रकाश डाला।
यह काययशाला हिश्वहिद्यालय तथा महाहिद्यालयोिंके अध्यापकोिंके हलए आयोहजत की गई थी, हजसमें48 शोधाहथययोिं, अध्यापकोिं तथा हिद्वानोिं नेसहक्रय रूप सेसहभाहगता की। 6 हदन तक चलनेिाली इस काययशाला मेंप्रहतहदन 10:00 बजेसेसायिं 5:00 बजेतक 4 अलग-अलग हिद्वानोिं के व्याख्यान हुए, हजनमेंभारतीय ज्ञान परिंपरा को कें द्र मेंरखतेहुए हिज्ञान, तकनीकी, ररसचय, भारतीय सौिंदययशास्त्र, नारी सशक्तक्तकरि, भारतीय सिंगीत, भारतीय अथयव्यिथथा, हशक्षा, हमथक, िास्तुशास्त्र, भारतीय मनोहिज्ञान, िैहदक साहहत्य, कमययोग, आयुिेहदक हशक्षा, भारतीय ज्योहतष, हिज्ञान एििं गहित, भारतीय भाषाएिं, रामायि एििंमहाभारत मेंमूल्य तथा अन्य महत्वपूियहिषय शाहमल हुए। इन हिद्वानोिंमेंप्रमुख थेप्रोफे सर गौरी माहुलीकर के रल से, डॉ. भारतेंदुहमश्र, श्री आशीष देसाई, प्रोफे सर रामराज उपाध्याय, डॉ. शहशबाला आहद हदल्ली से, प्रो. िरदराज बापट, डॉ आशीष पािंडेआईआईटी मुिंबई से, प्रो. उज्वला चक्रदेि, प्रो. रूबी ओझा, डॉ. अहजिंक्य निरे, डॉ. देिश्री फाटक मुिंबई से, प्रो. कुिं दन हसिंह, सोहफया हिश्वहिद्यालय कै हलफोहनयया, अमेररका से, श्री मनोज कु मार श्रीिास्ति भोपाल सेएििं प्रो. के. के. पािंडेय नागपुर से। 6 हदन की इस काययशाला मेंमुिंबई, नाहसक, पुिे, थािेआहद शहरोिं से48 अध्यापकोिं एििं शोधाहथययोिंनेप्रहतभाहगता की एििं अपनी सहक्रय सहभाहगता सेकाययशाला को न हसफय जीििंत बनाए रखा, बक्ति अपनेप्रश्नोिंएििं हिमशयसेसाथयक चचायभी की।

समापन सत्र की अध्यक्षता करतेहुए एसएनडीटी महहला हिश्वहिद्यालय की प्र-कु लगुरु प्रो. रूबी ओझा ने कहा हक काययशाला का उद्देश् फलीभूत हुआ है। अब अध्यापकोिं नेअपने- अपनेहिषयोिं सेभारतीय ज्ञान परिंपरा को जोडकर सोचना प्रारिंभ हकया है। अब इस हदशा मेंशोध की बहुत सी धाराएिं खुल रही हैं, हजन पर काययकरनेकी आिश्कता है। समापन सत्र के मुख्य अहतहथ आईआईटी मुिंबई के प्रोफे सर डॉ. आशीष पािंडेय नेसभी प्रहतभाहगयोिं के साथ हमलकर शोध सेसिंबिंहधत नए हिचार प्रस्तुत हकए तथा सबका मागयदशयन हकया।
भारतीय ज्ञान कें द्र की सिंयोहजका डॉ. ित्सला शुक्ला नेकाययशाला की ररपोटय प्रस्तुत की और ऐसे महत्वपूियहिषयोिंकी बात की हजन पर गहन चचायहुई। इस सत्र की हिहशष्ट् अहतहथ एसएनडीटी महहला हिश्वहिद्यालय की अहधष्ठाता मानहिकी सिंकाय प्रोफे सर मेधा तापीआिाला नेकहा हक भारतीय ज्ञान परिंपरा के हिषय मेंयह शुरुआत हुई है, अब हमेंइस परिंपरा को अपने-अपनेक्षेत्रोिंमेंअध्यापन के कें द्र मेंलाना होगा, हजससेहम इस हदशा मेंसाथयक उपलक्ति प्राप्त कर सकें । भारतीय ज्ञान कें द्र के मानद हनदेशक डॉ. हजतेंद्र कु मार हतिारी नेइस काययशाला मेंआए हुए सभी प्रहतभाहगयोिंतथा हिद्वानोिंका आभार ज्ञाहपत हकया तथा इस प्रकार के काययक्रमोिंको आगेभी करनेका सिंकल्प हकया।

कु लपहतप्रो. उज्जिला चक्रदेि नेकी। काययशाला का शुभारिंभ माननीय कु लपहत प्रो. उज्जिला चक्रदेि
के कर कमलोिंद्वारा दीपप्रज्वलन के साथ हुआ । सिंस्कृ त-हिभाग के अध्यक्ष एििं भारतीय ज्ञान सिंस्कृ त एििं
योग के न्द्र के हनदेशक माननीय हजतेन्द्र हतिारी महोदय नेमाननीय कु लपहत प्रो. उज्जिला चक्रदेि और
काययशाला की प्रहशहक्षका डॉ. हजग्ना पिंचमहतया का सम्मान हकया एििंप्रासिंहगक उद्बोधन हदया। काययशाला
